CAREERS EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS
To help boost our members’ employability, we work closely with the UEA Law School and Careers Central to provide as many opportunities as possible for members pursuing legal and non-legal careers. These opportunities range from interview and application workshops to networking events involving individuals from all areas of the legal profession. This year, the UEA Law Society aims to provide one careers event a week.
We are excited to propose a series of events this year designed to significantly benefit law students by collectively enhancing their practical skills and professional networking. Our Career Secretaries are dedicated to hosting a series of enriching events throughout the year designed to prepare students for successful legal careers. Our Committee organizes trips to the Inns of Court and law firms and runs insightful events to help students decide which career path is right for them. Furthermore, we aim to conduct Workshops on Career Skills, focusing on CV writing, interview techniques, LinkedIn optimization, and effective networking strategies. An example of one of these events is our university dinners, where members can network with guests and gain careers advice. These opportunities are invaluable to students seeking a career at firms and the Bar alike.

COMMERCIAL AWARENESS EVENTS
This academic year the society is keen to host more events tailored to developing students commercial awareness. Through hosting commercial awareness events significant benefits are offered to law students by bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical industry insights. These events provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the commercial landscape, enhancing their ability to interpret and respond to real-world business challenges.
The Commercial Awareness Officer will be holding sessions in conjunction with the Law School to deliver engaging workshops on a multitude of topics relating to commercial awareness, covering financial instruments, business knowledge and current affairs. The aim is to also host talks and networking opportunities with guests to help students build their professional network and foster new connections.
The new social media pages will have regular posts including news on events, current headlines and commercial awareness tips and tricks, as well as brief information posts covering similar topics to the sessions held. Please find the social media pages below.
